The use of glazed porcelain tiles to clad walls in both commercial and domestic situations has increased in popularity over the past few years, due in part to the use of digital printing techniques and the introduction of rectified edges on tiles. Glazed porcelain tiles are dense, strong and may require cutting with a wet saw. While the body is manufactured from porcelain clay the glaze completely eliminates the need for sealing. Glazing also means that the tile can have an infinite variety of colours, patterns, subtle textures and now, with the introduction of digital printing, it is possible to produce tiles with sophisticated designs on a curved surface.
