About Fully Vitrified
Made from fine porcelain dust particles pressed at approximately 700 tonnes per sq/inch and fired at very high temperatures (1250 deg. C) which results in a denser tile with extremely low porosity (moisture absorption of less than 0.5% in accordance with ISO Classification B1a). Sometimes called 'porcelain stoneware', these tiles are fully vitrified, making a layer of glaze unnecessary for the tile to be impervious to water. Fully vitrified tiles exhibit high mechanical strength and resistance to staining. The tile surface may be polished, honed, natural (un-polished) or textured, which are often specified for exterior installations. Tiles may be either rectified or have a standard pressed edge.
